By applying the '80/20 rule' to the process, this tutorial will show everyone how to improve their audio by focusing on just three key elements – in the correct order:
- Noise isolation – This tutorial covers why it’s essential to minimize the amount of noise that gets in, and out of, your recording area. The attendees will understand why this should be the first step in their audio improvement transformation, and they will learn a couple of very useful tricks that they can apply in any location to create an immediate improvement.
- Acoustic room treatment – There are a few things that anyone can do to create the right level of ambience in your recording area. There are a few key concepts to cover when it comes to reducing the amount of sound that can ‘bounce around’ a room. And, believe it or not, the use of acoustic foam is entirely optional.
- Picking the right recording hardware and software – With the two key concepts now covered, it’s time to move on to the more fun part of figuring out what microphone to use (with the key differences between USB and XLR mics), audio interfaces, computers, and recording software should be used. Three key budgets will be catered for: Up to €50, up to €200, and finally, up to €1,000.
Overall, attendees of the tutorial will walk away with a more in-depth knowledge of the foundational concepts that will give them the confidence to completely transform the quality of their audio recordings. They will have the key foundational knowledge that they can apply to wherever they are recording their voice-over audio, and they will be able to purchase the right tools to elevate their production to the next level in quality.
