A Writer’s Career Compass: In, With, and Beyond Docs focuses on growth and career prospects for technical writers based on our experiential learnings and findings within the community. Writers can harness their analytical, technical, and communication skills to propel themselves to greater heights and expand career horizons to a broader spectrum.

In this presentation, we discuss what authors can do to thrive in their roles, widen their perspectives, and transition into diverse career paths.

With the rapid advancement of technology, including AI’s integration into user experience, many in the community are questioning the future of this profession. During the course of this talk, we aim to reassure authors that while AI is here to stay, we writers can evolve, adapt to multifaceted roles, and embrace new opportunities.

As with any career path, writers too must imbibe good business acumen, continuous learning, networking, and collaboration to keep up with the times.

Biography

Rose Eliza Pinto is a senior specialist Technical Writer with 18 years of experience, passionate about simplifying complex technical product information to help end users achieve their business needs. She actively coaches, mentors, and trains writers on documentation guidelines, processes and strategy, fostering excellence in technical writing. Aspiring to broaden her perspective, Rose took on a fellowship in product management and gained deeper insights into the various aspects of product development, stakeholder management, customer needs, and so on. As a host at the SAP UA Info Forum, she facilitates a platform for colleagues to share knowledge. Committed to evangelizing technical writing as a profession, she engages with university students, inspiring the future generations of technical communicators. Besides documenting product information, she enjoys baking, travelling, and music. She plays the guitar and has completed 6 grades of theory from the Royal School of Music. Occassionally, she participates in CSR initiatives hoping to make a wider impact in the social community.
